It's forever, it's seen, it's remembered.
When you share something personal, something hate filled, something controversial....
You will get backlash.
You will get opinions.
You will get criticism.
Oh I know.
You're hurt, angry, upset, scared....
You're venting, sharing.
But you are also inviting people into your personal space, into your narrative.
If you're going to get butthurt, offended, or more upset by the comments of others....
Don't share.
It's better to write it down and burn it than it is to put it online.
No matter how much you're feeling overwhelmed right now, airing it to the world isn't going to make it any better. It will, I promise, make it worse.
On the other side of that....
Just because someone is oversharing doesn't mean you have to comment. You are allowed, and should leave it alone.
Tell them privately that they are oversharing, but don't feed the machine.
More than likely they're going through something, they're speaking from extreme emotions, and they will regret saying it as much as you regret reading it.
If you read something and it's not your business, it's not anything you needed to know.....dismiss it. That means you shouldn't comment on it because you shouldn't have known about it.
Yes, they put it out there. Doesn't mean you have to respond.
Basically, police yourself.
Be responsible.
Accept the consequences of your actions.
And think before you act/react.
Yay, that's my PSA for the day.
Seriously though, I'm watching people who are already going through a hard time go through a worse time and lose friends.....all because they overshared due to the emotional state they were in.
No one needs that.
God bless.
