Thanksgiving

I know covid is the big topic this year, but I know a lot of people hurting in a lot of different ways.
People having strains put on their relationships,  financial troubles,  health problems,  deaths in the family, a myriad of things that are piling up at once.

I know people who quote at me "It's minimizing a person's problems when you remind them others have it worse. You're not validating them".

Honey, it's not about validation.  We all have problems,  they all suck, and we all wish things were better. You're problems are just as valid as anyone else's.

Realizing that others have it worse than you, or have problems you would find impossible or anguishing....that's not devaluing you.
It's acknowledging someone else.  It's perspective,  compassion,  empathy.
It's having a heart.

These people missing limbs, confined to a bed, missing a loved one, struggling to pay their bills....
Most of those people will have compassion for your pain.
They will lend you a hand, a bed, food, a shoulder.
Without thought, without complaint.

So when you're done counting your miseries, take the holiday for it's purpose and list your blessings.
You might surprise yourself.

Then if you're really brave, share your blessings with someone else.
A smile, a hug, a turkey sandwich, a blanket or old coat for someone homeless....
Give someone something to count as a blessing.

Just a thought.
Happy Thanksgiving
God Bless
