"Look at me, I'm a mom and I work hard"
"Look at me, I'm a dad and I work hard"
"Look at me, I'm a little kid showing off for attention "
"Look at me"
"Look at me"
"Look at me"
We don't feel seen.
None of us.
Comparing our lives to everyone else's highlights.
Watching parents care more about their phone than their kids.
Watching parents compete for who works harder than cooperating to ensure they have a healthy family.
Dad cheats, takes off, gambles, drinks, goes out. Why? Because his buddies see him. Because his mistress sees him, because he's not competing for love and affection and attention when he's not home.
Wife cheats, goes out with the girls, gambles, spends a ton of money on her appearance. Why? Because her fling sees her, because her girlfriends see her, because no one who spends that much to look that good can be invisible.
Kids are locked in their room when they're not competing at school or trying out for some school function or gone with their friends. Why? Because in their room they're hiding so it'stheir choice to be invisible. Because when they're competing and trying out everyone is watching them. Because when they're with their friends they feel seen.
Everyone wants to feel seen, to matter.
Jesus died for us.
Virgin born, God made man, living a sinless life so he could be the ultimate sacrifice for us, us who could never atone for ourselves.
He died for each and every one of us.
Imagine someone being willing to die for you.
He did it.
And we refuse to see it, refuse to acknowledge it, and wonder why we feel lost and alone and invisible.
Eternity is set in the heart of man, always seeking.
You can only find eternity in the Son, the Lamb, Christ Jesus.
And when you develop a relationship with Christ you are always seen, always loved.
You quit being your focus because you know he's got you, all you have to do is love, share, do your best and be vigilant about yourself.
You don't have time to throw stones if you're busy washing people's feet.
Truth.
