Weird Waking Up

Sun shining through the fog on Saturday morning. Proof that no matter how hazy and hard it is to see clearly, things always come to light in their own time.
Sometimes the things in my head suck. Memories, feelings I haven't dealt with, things I shoved in a box marked "later".
Later does come.
Always.
Clover. A weed. Grows in everyone's lawn, everwhere. So common. Have you ever smelled it? Beautiful!  And it feeds the bees. All these wild flowers we call weeds, get it out of our lawns and gardens...the life blood of bees, who in turn give us life through pollination.
We don't always see things as they are.  We're taught, we're told, we watch and ideas get in our minds that aren't necessarily true or at least aren't all they seem.
Ants. Hard working, prepared, will fight for their colony; their family, yet almost completely ignored except to be considered a pest. Accomplishments and dedication going unnoticed and unrecognized.
How often do we feel invisible or underappreciated? How often do we stop and wonder what we're working so hard and long for, if we're even making a difference?  Am I seen?
Such simple beauty. Tiny little flowers,  barely noticeable in the grass, yet there it is. They go about their little life spans, blooming, feeding, being fed in return so they can make more next year.
Much like us. Going about our lives, existing,  doing what's necessary to survive without a thought as to how beautiful we are in the sight of those who really do see us.
Juvenile assassin beetle. They're dangerous if you get too close but from a distance they're wonderful to watch, perfectly harmless.
How harmless are we? How many times have we hurt people without even realizing it? More often than we think I'd bet.
Star of Bethlehem. They're bulbs,  they spread so that no weeds can grow in the early spring, at least not in our yard, lol. So pretty and they just grow, doing what they do,  never knowing how much impact they have on the environment they're in.
How often do we consider the impact we have on those around us? How often do we ask ourselves if we could do more,  if we're putting ourselves too much into the wrong things, should we take a look at where we are and what we're doing?
Ground ivy blossom.  Tiny. Just a small splash of color by itself, but as a ground cover it's a beautiful smattering of purple mixed with the yellows, blues, and whites of the other ground cover blossoms.
We so often forget to recognize our own beauty.  We're taught that to appreciate ourselves is arrogant.  It's only arrogance if we allow it to set us above others. Truth is, we all have beauty in our own way and the world would be much better if we could all recognize that more.
Sage. Such bright blooms. The bees and butterflies love it. It's not a beautiful plant, it's long and gangly, it doesn't have a particularly sweet aroma either. However,  it's leaves are good for adding spice and it's blooms feed so many insects.
We focus sometimes so much on the outward appearance that we forget to see the beauty of what's inside.  We all will be dust some day, but who we are and the impact we have on those around us....that's forever.
